Carter Efe, Africa's most followed streamer, suspended by Twitch

Nigerian content creator and streamer Carter Efe , whose real name is Oderhohwo Efe , has been suspended from the popular streaming platform Twitch . The suspension comes shortly after Efe emerged as Africa’s most-followed Twitch streamer, a milestone achieved following a high profile livestream featuring Afrobeats star Davido. Burkina Faso Confirms Detention of 11 Nigerian Military Officers, Seizure of Air Force Aircraft [WATCH]

Burkina Faso ’s military government has confirmed the detention of 11 Nigerian military personnel and the seizure of a Nigerian Air Force cargo aircraft that entered the country’s airspace without authorisation before making an emergency landing. In a statement issued late Monday, the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) said the C-130 aircraft was compelled to land on December 8, 2025, in Bobo-Dioulasso following an in-flight emergency. The bloc said the aircraft, which belonged to the Nigerian Air Force, had flown over Burkinabe territory without the required clearance. The AES comprises Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali, all currently governed by military regimes. ___________________________ ___________________________ Authorities said the plane was carrying two crew members and nine passengers, all of whom were later identified as Nigerian military officers. UPDATE: Benin Government Says Attempted Coup was Unsuccessful

The government of Benin announced on Sunday that it had successfully foiled an attempted coup allegedly orchestrated by members of the country’s armed forces. In a televised address, Interior Minister Alassane Seidou said the military leadership “remained committed to the republic,” reaffirming its loyalty despite the actions of a small group of soldiers. Earlier in the day, a faction of soldiers appeared on state television claiming to have overthrown President Patrice Talon . Eyewitnesses told the BBC they heard gunfire in parts of Cotonou, and reports emerged that some state media staff had been held hostage during the broadcast. A presidential adviser told the BBC that President Talon was in a secure location. French diplomats also dismissed circulating reports that he had sought refuge at the French embassy in Cotonou, the country’s administrative capital.

Identifying themselves as the Military Committee for Refoundation, the officers declared that President Patrice Talon and all political officeholders had been removed from power, adding that all state institutions now stand dissolved. Talon, who has led the country since 2016, had previously stated that he would leave office in April 2026 after the next presidential election. His administration has faced increasing tension in recent months.
