Finally¡ Venmo and PayPal Users Can Send Payments Directly to Each Other

_____________________ Venmo is owned by PayPal since its parent company Braintree was acquired for $800 million in 2013. ______________________ For years, Venmo and PayPal , two of the biggest names in digital payments, have operated separately, forcing users to rely on clunky workarounds to send money between the two. But that’s about to change. According to an email sent to Venmo customers, starting in November, Venmo and PayPal users will be able to pay each other, both in the U.S. and worldwide. PayPal users will be able to find and pay you using your phone number,” the company wrote, adding that email support will come later. It’s a long-overdue feature, especially considering PayPal owns Venmo a fact that’s left many users scratching their heads for years. World   renowned boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a road accident earlier today in Makun, Ogun State. Eyewitnesses say the incident occurred around 11 a.m. on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near Danco Filling Station, before the Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan-bound lane. Joshua was traveling in a Lexus SUV, registration number KRD 850 HN, which reportedly collided with a stationary truck. USA Announces Visa Suspension for Nigerians, Effective January 1, 2026

The United States has announced a partial suspension of the issuance of certain visas to Nigerian nationals, effective from January 1, 2026, following a new presidential proclamation on border and national security. In a statement issued on Monday, the US Mission in Nigeria said the restriction will take effect at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on January 1, 2026, in line with Presidential Proclamation 10998, titled “Restricting and Limiting the Entry of Foreign Nationals to Protect the Security of the United States.” Nigeria is among 19 countries affected by the measure. Others listed include Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, Cuba, Dominica, Gabon, The Gambia, Malawi, Mauritania, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Venezuela, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Thieves Drill into German Bank Vault, Steal €30m in Cash & Gold in Massive Christmas Heist

German police have launched an intensive manhunt after one of the largest bank heists in Germany’s recent history, in which thieves drilled into the underground vault of a Sparkasse savings bank in Gelsenkirchen and stole cash, gold and jewellery estimated at about €30 million . The carefully planned robbery occurred over the Christmas holiday in the Buer district of Gelsenkirchen, western Germany. Investigators believe the suspects took advantage of the prolonged holiday closure to access the vault unnoticed. Police said the gang drilled through a thick concrete wall to enter the basement vault, where they systematically forced open thousands of customer safe deposit boxes and removed valuables worth tens of millions of euros. Sparkasse confirmed that more than 3,000 boxes were smashed open, representing over 95 percent of the branch’s 3,250 deposit boxes, making the scale of the theft unprecedented for the bank. Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo _____ The Federal Government has declared Thursday, December 25 , and Friday, December 26, 2025 , as public holidays to mark Christmas Day and Boxing Day .  It also announced Thursday, January 1, 2026 , as a public holiday for the New Year celebrations. The announcement was conveyed in a statement on Monday by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajayi , on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo . The Lagos State Government with the approval of the state Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu has cancelled the 2025 Greater Lagos Fiesta, the annual end-of-year celebration that traditionally ushers residents into the New Year with music, fireworks and large public gatherings. The cancellation was confirmed on Tuesday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Gboyega Akosile. According to the statement, the decision was taken with the governor’s approval, barely a day before the event was scheduled to hold on December 31. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar & Released Airforce Crew _____ Nigeria has secured the release of 11 Nigerian Air Force pilots and crew members, along with their military aircraft, following high-level diplomatic talks with authorities in Burkina Faso. A Nigerian delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, met with Burkina Faso’s military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, in Ouagadougou on Wednesday, conveying a message of solidarity from President Bola Tinubu. In a statement, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, confirmed that the pilots and crew were released on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. The personnel and their aircraft had been detained by Burkina Faso’s military authoritie s after the jet made what Nigeria described as an emergency landing due to technical issues while en route to Portugal.

Nigerian content creator and streamer Carter Efe , whose real name is Oderhohwo Efe , has been suspended from the popular streaming platform Twitch . The suspension comes shortly after Efe emerged as Africa’s most-followed Twitch streamer, a milestone achieved following a high profile livestream featuring Afrobeats star Davido.
