Finally¡ Venmo and PayPal Users Can Send Payments Directly to Each Other

_____________________ Venmo is owned by PayPal since its parent company Braintree was acquired for $800 million in 2013. ______________________ For years, Venmo and PayPal , two of the biggest names in digital payments, have operated separately, forcing users to rely on clunky workarounds to send money between the two. But that’s about to change. According to an email sent to Venmo customers, starting in November, Venmo and PayPal users will be able to pay each other, both in the U.S. and worldwide. PayPal users will be able to find and pay you using your phone number,” the company wrote, adding that email support will come later. It’s a long-overdue feature, especially considering PayPal owns Venmo a fact that’s left many users scratching their heads for years. The trial of Nigerian internet punter Benjamin Best , popularly known as Killaboi , is set to commence today, Thursday, January 15, 2025. ___________________ RELATED : K!llaboi & Austa: The Billionaire Punter, The Model, and the M8rder That Shook Social Media! ___________________ Mrs. Cordelia Okonye, mother of the late Augusta Onuwabhagbe, confirmed the development in a post on her social media page, stating that the matter would be heard at the High Court, Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. Best is accused of killing 21-year-old Onuwabhagbe, a student of Lead City University, at his residence located at No. 24a Abiola Apooyi Street, Oral Estate in Ajah, Lagos, in July 2023. He reportedly fled the country shortly after the incident and was declared wanted by Nigerian authorities. Arsenal have signed centre forward Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP for a €63.5million (£54.8m, $74.2m) fixed upfront fee plus €10m (£8.6m, $11.7m) in add-ons. The 27-year-old has signed a five-year contract at the Emirates. Born in Stockholm, Viktor started his career with IF Brommapojkarna, where he developed through their youth academy, scoring 32 goals in 31 appearances at under-19 and under-21 levels, and making his senior debut as a 17-year-old. In January 2018, the clinical goalscorer joined Brighton & Hove Albion, during which time he enjoyed loan spells at Swansea City, St. Pauli and Coventry City, moving to the Sky Blues permanently in 2021 and helping them to the Championship Play Off final in 2023. Charlie Javice Sentenced to 7 years in Prison for Defrauding J.P Morgan Chase of $175 Million

Charlie Javice , the 33-year-old founder of the startup Frank , was sentenced Monday to more than seven years in prison after being convicted of defrauding JPMorgan Chase out of $175 million . JPMorgan Chase bank bought her student loan start-up, but later discovered the numbers were falsified. A Manhattan federal court jury found in March that Javice had grossly inflated the company’s customer numbers, creating fake records that claimed Frank had over 4 million users when the real figure was fewer than 300,000.  Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein, who handed down the sentence, described her actions in the summer of 2021 as “a large fraud” aimed at deceiving the banking giant.

Uganda has been plunged into a nationwide digital blackout on Tuesday evening as the government ordered internet service providers to sever connections just two days before a pivotal general election. The formal directive from the Uganda Communications Commission cited the need to curb misinformation, electoral fraud, and potential incitement to violence as justifications for the shutdown.  While government officials privately confirmed the order to AFP, the administration has avoided making a public announcement, reportedly to distance itself from the controversial decision. The timing of the disconnection heightens tensions as President Yoweri Museveni seeks to extend his four-decade rule against a familiar challenger, singer-turned-politician Bobi Wine.
