BREAKING: Guinea-Bissau Military Seizes Power, Arrests President Embaló
Guinea-Bissau’s military has taken control of the country and arrested embattled President Umaro Sissoco Embaló following days of political tension.

Key government and political figures including the chief of the armed forces, the interior minister, and an opposition leaders were detained as soldiers moved swiftly to consolidate control. Borders have been closed, and a nationwide curfew has been imposed.
The takeover comes after rival candidates claimed victory amid disputes over the opposition’s exclusion from the poll. Guinea-Bissau, which gained independence in 1974, has experienced at least nine coups or coup attempts since then.
