Trial of K!llaboi who allegedly mvrdered his Girlfriend to begin today

The trial of Nigerian internet punter Benjamin Best, popularly known as Killaboi, is set to commence today, Thursday, January 15, 2025.

Mrs. Cordelia Okonye, mother of the late Augusta Onuwabhagbe, confirmed the development in a post on her social media page, stating that the matter would be heard at the High Court, Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.


Best is accused of killing 21-year-old Onuwabhagbe, a student of Lead City University, at his residence located at No. 24a Abiola Apooyi Street, Oral Estate in Ajah, Lagos, in July 2023.

He reportedly fled the country shortly after the incident and was declared wanted by Nigerian authorities. He was arrested in Qatar in February 2025 and later extradited to Nigeria in April 2025 to face trial.

Eminent Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has alleged medical negligence in the death of her 21-month-old son, Nkanu Nnamdi, who passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.  Adichie’s media team confirmed to ARISE News on Saturday that the author penned a detailed statement of the incident, which was originally shared privately with family and close friends before becoming public. In the statement, Adichie said her son was taken to Euracare Hospital for an MRI scan and the insertion of a central line. Court grants former AGF Malami, Wife & Son 1.5 Billion Naira Bail

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday granted bail to the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abdulaziz Malami , his wife, and his son. Each defendant was admitted to bail in the sum of ₦500 million, accompanied by stringent conditions intended to ensure their appearance for trial. The court's decision follows Malami’s period in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), where he has been held since December 8. His detention followed a reported failure to satisfy administrative bail terms previously established by the commission. The United States has announced a partial suspension of the issuance of certain visas to Nigerian nationals, effective from January 1, 2026, following a new presidential proclamation on border and national security. In a statement issued on Monday, the US Mission in Nigeria said the restriction will take effect at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on January 1, 2026, in line with Presidential Proclamation 10998, titled “Restricting and Limiting the Entry of Foreign Nationals to Protect the Security of the United States.” Nigeria is among 19 countries affected by the measure. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar & Released Airforce Crew _____ Nigeria has secured the release of 11 Nigerian Air Force pilots and crew members, along with their military aircraft, following high-level diplomatic talks with authorities in Burkina Faso. A Nigerian delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, met with Burkina Faso’s military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, in Ouagadougou on Wednesday, conveying a message of solidarity from President Bola Tinubu. In a statement, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, confirmed that the pilots and crew were released on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. The personnel and their aircraft had been detained by Burkina Faso’s military authoritie s after the jet made what Nigeria described as an emergency landing due to technical issues while en route to Portugal.
