United States Treasury to Mint Special $1 Note featuring President Trump's Face to mark America' 250th Birthday

According to CNN, It’s not clear if the controversial coin design will be minted: It’s against US law to display the image of a sitting president or living former president. A president may be featured on a coin no sooner than two years following the president’s death.

A new commemorative $1 coin proposal honoring America’s 250th birthday in 2026 may feature former President Donald Trump, according to preliminary designs confirmed by the U.S. Treasury.

Early drafts show Trump’s side profile on the front, framed by the inscriptions “Liberty,” “In God We Trust,” and the dates “1776–2026.” The reverse reportedly depicts Trump’s defiant fist-raising moment following the Butler, Pennsylvania assassination attempt, with the phrase “FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT” emblazoned above and an American flag waving behind him.

However, the design’s legality is uncertain. Federal law prohibits the U.S. Mint from featuring the likeness of a sitting or living former president on official currency. Under U.S. code, a president’s image cannot appear on a coin until at least two years after their death.
