Top 5 features of the All new iOS 26 {Watch}

Apple just released the public beta preview version of its next iPhone operating system, called iOS 26.

This software release on Thursday means that members of the public with recent iPhones can preview how the device’s interface will change in the fall when the software is formally released and pushed to users.

To try out iOS 26, iPhone users in the U.S. and other countries need to enroll on Apple’s website, then they can navigate to the settings menu, select General, then Software Updates and then Beta Updates.

This version of the Apple mobile operating system is one of the biggest changes to the iPhone’s user interface design since 2013, when Apple’s iOS 7 introduced a new, flatter look.

This year’s redesign is called “Liquid Glass,” and it replaces many of the iPhone’s familiar buttons and menus with versions that are translucent and show animations while the user navigates their apps. The buttons are supposed to mimic the look of glass that flows like liquid. Apple relies on public feedback of its betas to tweak and change some of the most radical interfaces it tries out.

Apple has also updated its operating systems for iPads, Mac computers, and Apple Watch to use the new user interface.

USA Announces Visa Suspension for Nigerians, Effective January 1, 2026

The United States has announced a partial suspension of the issuance of certain visas to Nigerian nationals, effective from January 1, 2026, following a new presidential proclamation on border and national security. In a statement issued on Monday, the US Mission in Nigeria said the restriction will take effect at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on January 1, 2026, in line with Presidential Proclamation 10998, titled “Restricting and Limiting the Entry of Foreign Nationals to Protect the Security of the United States.” Nigeria is among 19 countries affected by the measure. Others listed include Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, Cuba, Dominica, Gabon, The Gambia, Malawi, Mauritania, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Venezuela, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Godiya Akwashiki , Nigerian Senator representing Nasarawa North Senatorial District, has died at the age of 52. A family source confirmed to journalists that the lawmaker passed away on Wednesday at a hospital in India, where he had been receiving treatment for a protracted illness. The family, in a statement, described his passing as a "great loss" to Nasarawa State and the country at large. Prior to being flown abroad, Akwashiki had reportedly been battling health challenges for several months. Born on August 3, 1973, in Angba Iggah, Akwashiki was a seasoned legislator. His political journey began in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, where he served from 2011 to 2019. Thieves Drill into German Bank Vault, Steal €30m in Cash & Gold in Massive Christmas Heist

German police have launched an intensive manhunt after one of the largest bank heists in Germany’s recent history, in which thieves drilled into the underground vault of a Sparkasse savings bank in Gelsenkirchen and stole cash, gold and jewellery estimated at about €30 million . The carefully planned robbery occurred over the Christmas holiday in the Buer district of Gelsenkirchen, western Germany. Investigators believe the suspects took advantage of the prolonged holiday closure to access the vault unnoticed. Police said the gang drilled through a thick concrete wall to enter the basement vault, where they systematically forced open thousands of customer safe deposit boxes and removed valuables worth tens of millions of euros. Sparkasse confirmed that more than 3,000 boxes were smashed open, representing over 95 percent of the branch’s 3,250 deposit boxes, making the scale of the theft unprecedented for the bank. Burkina Faso ’s military government has confirmed the detention of 11 Nigerian military personnel and the seizure of a Nigerian Air Force cargo aircraft that entered the country’s airspace without authorisation before making an emergency landing. In a statement issued late Monday, the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) said the C-130 aircraft was compelled to land on December 8, 2025, in Bobo-Dioulasso following an in-flight emergency.
