Former Canadian olympic snowboarder Ryan James Wedding, 43, has been placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list over allegations of transnational drug trafficking and multiple murders.
Wedding, who competed for Canada in the men’s parallel giant slalom event at the 2002 Winter Olympics, is accused of running a large-scale criminal enterprise in the years following his athletic career. U.S. authorities allege he ordered the killing of a witness in a federal case against him and hired assassins to eliminate rival traffickers.
Federal investigators believe Wedding is currently hiding in Mexico with protection from a cartel.
FBI Director Kash Patel compared the fugitive to notorious drug lords Pablo Escobar and Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán as he announced the addition of Wedding to the FBI's most wanted list on March 6, 2025.
