"I don’t want to be a second wife anymore, I’m looking for love" - Tiwa Savage

Famous Nigerian artiste Tiwa Savage has addressed the controversy surrounding her recent remark about being open to becoming a second wife.

In a new interview, the 45-year-old artist explained that the statement was not a serious declaration but rather an expression of frustration after a series of failed relationships.

“I was a first wife, where did that get me? I got married as the only wife, but here we are,” she said, reflecting on her past marriage. “I’m tired of being heartbroken. Maybe I’m getting it wrong. Maybe I should try being a second wife.”

Savage clarified that her comment was made in jest, not as a genuine desire. “It’s not my choice. I don’t want to. I wish I could tell my truth, but I’ll be dragged. I’m just looking for love, let’s leave it at that,” she added.

The singer was married to music executive Tunji Balogun, popularly known as TBillz. The couple tied the knot in 2013 and share a son. Their marriage ended in 2018 amid allegations of infidelity and emotional conflict.

Eminent Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has alleged medical negligence in the death of her 21-month-old son, Nkanu Nnamdi, who passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.  Adichie’s media team confirmed to ARISE News on Saturday that the author penned a detailed statement of the incident, which was originally shared privately with family and close friends before becoming public. In the statement, Adichie said her son was taken to Euracare Hospital for an MRI scan and the insertion of a central line. Arsenal and England ace midfielder Declan Rice has been hit with a six-month driving ban after being caught speeding twice on the same road in just one week. The £105million midfielder was first caught doing 37mph in a 30mph zone on January 3 last year. Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday granted bail to the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abdulaziz Malami , his wife, and his son. Each defendant was admitted to bail in the sum of ₦500 million, accompanied by stringent conditions intended to ensure their appearance for trial. The court's decision follows Malami’s period in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), where he has been held since December 8. His detention followed a reported failure to satisfy administrative bail terms previously established by the commission. The United States has announced a partial suspension of the issuance of certain visas to Nigerian nationals, effective from January 1, 2026, following a new presidential proclamation on border and national security. In a statement issued on Monday, the US Mission in Nigeria said the restriction will take effect at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on January 1, 2026, in line with Presidential Proclamation 10998, titled “Restricting and Limiting the Entry of Foreign Nationals to Protect the Security of the United States.” Nigeria is among 19 countries affected by the measure. A Nigerian delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, met with Burkina Faso’s military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, in Ouagadougou on Wednesday, conveying a message of solidarity from President Bola Tinubu.
