U.S. War Secretary Hegseth Meets Nigeria’s NSA Ribadu Over Rising Attacks on Christians

United States War Secretary Pete Hegseth has disclosed that he met with Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and his team to discuss concerns over the alleged rise in violent attacks targeting Christian communities across the country.

Hegseth announced the meeting in a statement posted on X on Friday, noting that

the U.S., under President Donald Trump, is strengthening its security cooperation with Nigeria to counter jihadist groups accused of carrying out assaults on Christian populations.

He wrote:

Yesterday, I met with Nigeria’s National Security Advisor and his team to discuss the horrific violence against Christians in their country.

Under @POTUS leadership, DOW is working aggressively with Nigeria to end the persecution of Christians by jihadist terrorists.

He reiterated Washington’s commitment to working with Nigerian authorities to stem the violence.
