The artist, whose real name is Thomaz Cameron Jibril, acknowledged lighting a joint while performing at the Beach, Please! festival in Costinești last year. Romanian authorities said he was found with more than 18 grams of cannabis and also consumed the substance publicly during the show.
An appeal court overturned an earlier penalty that had imposed a fine of 3,600 Romanian lei and instead ordered a custodial sentence.
Following the incident, Jibril wrote on X that he had not intended to offend the country.
Last nights show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time

However, legal experts say the sentence is unlikely to be enforced. Romanian criminologist Vlad Zaha told BBC News that extradition from the United States was highly improbable, describing the ruling as unusually severe.
He noted that the rapper’s status, Romania’s limited leverage in extradition matters, and the legal and political standing of cannabis in the United States make it unlikely that Wiz Khalifa would be transferred to Romania to serve the sentence, despite a formal request being expected.
