After months of speculation, Katy Perry has all but confirmed her romance with former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau. The duo were seen enjoying a steamy outing on board the pop star’s yacht as it sailed off the coast of Santa Barbara, California, over the weekend. They clearly couldn’t keep their hands off each other with the pair photographed kissing and cuddling on board after months of speculation. This public display of affection comes three months after romance rumors started, when they were seen having dinner together at the upscale Le Violon restaurant in Montreal during Perry’s Lifetimes tour in Canada. The trial of Nigerian internet punter Benjamin Best , popularly known as Killaboi , is set to commence today, Thursday, January 15, 2025. ___________________ RELATED : K!llaboi & Austa: The Billionaire Punter, The Model, and the M8rder That Shook Social Media! ___________________ Mrs. Cordelia Okonye, mother of the late Augusta Onuwabhagbe, confirmed the development in a post on her social media page, stating that the matter would be heard at the High Court, Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. Best is accused of killing 21-year-old Onuwabhagbe, a student of Lead City University, at his residence located at No. 24a Abiola Apooyi Street, Oral Estate in Ajah, Lagos, in July 2023. He reportedly fled the country shortly after the incident and was declared wanted by Nigerian authorities. He was arrested in Qatar in February 2025 and later extradited to Nigeria in April 2025 to face trial. Share this story

Arsenal have signed centre forward Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP for a €63.5million (£54.8m, $74.2m) fixed upfront fee plus €10m (£8.6m, $11.7m) in add-ons. The 27-year-old has signed a five-year contract at the Emirates. Born in Stockholm, Viktor started his career with IF Brommapojkarna, where he developed through their youth academy, scoring 32 goals in 31 appearances at under-19 and under-21 levels, and making his senior debut as a 17-year-old. In January 2018, the clinical goalscorer joined Brighton & Hove Albion, during which time he enjoyed loan spells at Swansea City, St. Pauli and Coventry City, moving to the Sky Blues permanently in 2021 and helping them to the Championship Play Off final in 2023. Charlie Javice Sentenced to 7 years in Prison for Defrauding J.P Morgan Chase of $175 Million

Charlie Javice , the 33-year-old founder of the startup Frank , was sentenced Monday to more than seven years in prison after being convicted of defrauding JPMorgan Chase out of $175 million . JPMorgan Chase bank bought her student loan start-up, but later discovered the numbers were falsified. A Manhattan federal court jury found in March that Javice had grossly inflated the company’s customer numbers, creating fake records that claimed Frank had over 4 million users when the real figure was fewer than 300,000.  Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein, who handed down the sentence, described her actions in the summer of 2021 as “a large fraud” aimed at deceiving the banking giant.

Uganda Shuts Down Internet as President Museveni seeks to extend 40 year rule

Uganda has been plunged into a nationwide digital blackout on Tuesday evening as the government ordered internet service providers to sever connections just two days before a pivotal general election. The formal directive from the Uganda Communications Commission cited the need to curb misinformation, electoral fraud, and potential incitement to violence as justifications for the shutdown.  While government officials privately confirmed the order to AFP, the administration has avoided making a public announcement, reportedly to distance itself from the controversial decision. The timing of the disconnection heightens tensions as President Yoweri Museveni seeks to extend his four-decade rule against a familiar challenger, singer-turned-politician Bobi Wine. MacKenzie Scott has pledged another major unrestricted gift, this time, $70 million to historically Black colleges and universities The donation by Scott, whose net worth is currently valued to be around $34 billion, is set to reshape the financial future of 37 historically HBCUs (historically Black colleges and universities), as part of a $1 billion campaign.
