Burkina Faso has reportedly transferred 11 detained Nigerian soldiers to isolated detention amid ongoing diplomatic tensions. Sources say the Nigerian government has yet to formally convince the ruling military junta that a Nigerian Air Force C-130 aircraft at the centre of the dispute was en route to Portugal. Burkina Faso Confirms Detention of 11 Nigerian Military Officers, Seizure of Air Force Aircraft [WATCH]

Burkina Faso ’s military government has confirmed the detention of 11 Nigerian military personnel and the seizure of a Nigerian Air Force cargo aircraft that entered the country’s airspace without authorisation before making an emergency landing. In a statement issued late Monday, the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) said the C-130 aircraft was compelled to land on December 8, 2025, in Bobo-Dioulasso following an in-flight emergency. The bloc said the aircraft, which belonged to the Nigerian Air Force, had flown over Burkinabe territory without the required clearance. The AES comprises Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali, all currently governed by military regimes. ___________________________ ___________________________ Authorities said the plane was carrying two crew members and nine passengers, all of whom were later identified as Nigerian military officers. Best is accused of killing 21-year-old Onuwabhagbe, a student of Lead City University, at his residence located at No. 24a Abiola Apooyi Street, Oral Estate in Ajah, Lagos, in July 2023. He reportedly fled the country shortly after the incident and was declared wanted by Nigerian authorities. Arsenal have signed centre forward Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP for a €63.5million (£54.8m, $74.2m) fixed upfront fee plus €10m (£8.6m, $11.7m) in add-ons. The 27-year-old has signed a five-year contract at the Emirates. Charlie Javice Sentenced to 7 years in Prison for Defrauding J.P Morgan Chase of $175 Million

Charlie Javice , the 33-year-old founder of the startup Frank , was sentenced Monday to more than seven years in prison after being convicted of defrauding JPMorgan Chase out of $175 million . JPMorgan Chase bank bought her student loan start-up, but later discovered the numbers were falsified. A Manhattan federal court jury found in March that Javice had grossly inflated the company’s customer numbers, creating fake records that claimed Frank had over 4 million users when the real figure was fewer than 300,000.  Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein, who handed down the sentence, described her actions in the summer of 2021 as “a large fraud” aimed at deceiving the banking giant.
