Nnamdi Kanu Moved to Sokoto Prison after Life Sentence

Nnamdi Kanu , leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who was sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday for terrorism has been moved to a prison in sokoto, his lawyer said in a post on X Breaking: MAZI NNAMDI KANU has just been moved from DSS Abuja to the correctional facility (prison) in Sokoto; so far away from his lawyers, family, loved ones and wellwishers. pic.twitter.com/0nsZPMFopk — aloy ejimakor (@AloyEjimakor) November 21, 2025 Justice James Omotosho found Kanu guilty on four of the seven charges and imposed additional terms of 20 years and five years on two other counts. The judge ruled that the prosecution proved its case and said Kanu offered “no credible defence”. Omotosho described Kanu as an “international terrorist” with a “tendency for violence”, adding that he was unfit for Kuje prison. The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu to life imprisonment after a decade-long trial. ___________________ RELATED : Nigerian FG seeks death penalty for Nnamdi Kanu following Conviction on Terrorism Charge ¡ ___________________ Justice James Omotosho delivered the ruling on Thursday, four years after Kanu was arrested in Kenya and brought back to Nigeria. He was convicted on all seven terrorism-related charges filed by the Federal Government, despite pleading not guilty. ______________________ ________________________ The judgment was delivered in Kanu’s absence after he disrupted proceedings, leading the judge to order security operatives to remove him from the courtroom. Justice Omotosho held that Kanu’s Radio Biafra broadcasts and sit-at-home orders in the South-East amounted to acts of terrorism, infringed on citizens’ rights, and promoted violence against security personnel. This is a developing story, MEB will keep you posted as events unfold..... The Federal Government on Thursday asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to impose the death penalty on Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), following his conviction. Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court ruled that Kanu was guilty on one count of the terrorism charges brought against him by the Federal Government. The court held that it was convinced Kanu made a series of broadcasts that incited violence and killings in pursuit of his separatist campaign for a Biafran state. Justice Omotosho said his verdict was based on what he described as “uncontroverted evidence” presented by the prosecution. Share this story

Paystack fires co-founder Ezra Olubi amid sexual misconduct controversy

Source: TechPoint __________ Nigerian fintech Paystack has terminated the employment of its Co-founder and chief technology officer, Ezra Olubi , after public allegations that he had sexual relations with a junior employee. Olubi announced the firing in a blog post on Saturday, November 23, 2025, saying that the decision came before the company’s investigation was complete. The controversy began in mid-November when a social media post alleging abusive behaviour by Olubi went viral and prompted users to resurface a series of explicit tweets from earlier in his career. Guinea-Bissau’s military has taken control of the country and arrested embattled President Umaro Sissoco Embaló following days of political tension. The military's high command announced on Wednesday that it had assumed full authority, deposed President Embaló, and halted the ongoing vote count from Sunday’s presidential and legislative elections. Key government and political figures including the chief of the armed forces, the interior minister, and an opposition leaders were detained as soldiers moved swiftly to consolidate control. Borders have been closed, and a nationwide curfew has been imposed. The takeover comes after rival candidates claimed victory amid disputes over the opposition’s exclusion from the poll.
