Famous German Twins, Alice & Ellen Kessler die together by Assisted Suicide at 89

Alice and Ellen Kessler, the renowned twin dancers and singers who rose to fame in the 1950s and performed alongside icons such as Fred Astaire, Frank Sinatra and Harry Belafonte, have died at the age of 89, German police confirmed on Tuesday.

The deaths of twin siblings who shared a home in the affluent Munich suburb of Grünwald has been confirmed as a "joint suicide," according to police.

German newspaper Bild and the news agency dpa first reported the deaths on Monday, citing unnamed sources.

Munich police officially confirmed the incident on Tuesday, issuing a statement detailing the cause of death as a shared, intentional act.

The Kessler twins began their training with the Leipzig Opera's children's ballet before fleeing to West Germany in 1952 at age 16.

After performing in Düsseldorf, their international breakthrough came in 1955 when they were discovered by the director of the Lido cabaret in Paris, leading to a celebrated global career.
