FG Arraigns Ex-Aviation Minister Stella Oduah for N2.4bn Fraud

The federal government on Wednesday arraigned former aviation minister Stella Oduah and her aide, Gloria Odita, before an Abuja High Court over an alleged N2.4 billion fraud.

The duo face a five-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining by false pretence and criminal breach of trust. Prosecutors allege they fraudulently obtained N2.47 billion from the Ministry of Aviation in 2014 under the guise of “technical supervision” and “security and logistics support services”, and later misappropriated the funds.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty. Their lawyers sought bail on self-recognition, which Justice Hamza Muazu granted, ordering them to submit their travel documents and seek court approval before any trip. The case was adjourned to February 12 for hearing.

The Rivers State House of Assembly has commenced impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Oduh . Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday granted bail to the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abdulaziz Malami , his wife, and his son. Each defendant was admitted to bail in the sum of ₦500 million, accompanied by stringent conditions intended to ensure their appearance for trial. The court's decision follows Malami’s period in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), where he has been held since December 8. The United States has announced a partial suspension of the issuance of certain visas to Nigerian nationals, effective from January 1, 2026, following a new presidential proclamation on border and national security. In a statement issued on Monday, the US Mission in Nigeria said the restriction will take effect at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on January 1, 2026, in line with Presidential Proclamation 10998, titled “Restricting and Limiting the Entry of Foreign Nationals to Protect the Security of the United States.” Nigeria is among 19 countries affected by the measure. Vince Zampella , the influential co-creator of the Call of Duty franchise and founder of Respawn Entertainment, was killed Sunday 12/21/25 in a high-speed, single-car accident in the San Gabriel Mountains.
