Carter Efe, Africa's most followed streamer, suspended by Twitch

Nigerian content creator and streamer Carter Efe, whose real name is Oderhohwo Efe, has been suspended from the popular streaming platform Twitch.

The suspension comes shortly after Efe emerged as Africa’s most-followed Twitch streamer, a milestone achieved following a high profile livestream featuring Afrobeats star Davido.

In a post shared on Snapchat, Efe published an email from Twitch informing him that his account had been suspended for violating the platform’s terms of service.

Efe’s Twitch following surged to more than 400,000 after Davido appeared on his stream, overtaking fellow Nigerian comedian and streamer Shank Comics, who set the previous record about six months ago and currently has around 240,000 followers.

The livestream also delivered several other milestones. Davido reportedly set a new record for the most-watched Twitch livestream in Africa, attracting approximately 83,000 viewers, and became the first African streamer to surpass 20,000 subscribers on the platform.

A check on Twitch by MEB shows that Efe’s official channel has been removed from the platform
