Lagos Socialite, Pretty Mike Arrested by NDLEA over Drug Themed Party

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has detained popular Lagos socialite and nightclub proprietor, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, known as Pretty Mike, following a raid on his Victoria Island establishment where a suspected drug-themed party was taking place.

The operation targeted Proxy Nightclub at 7 Akin Adesola Street in the early hours of Sunday, October 26th.

According to an NDLEA statement by its Director, Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the agency had received intelligence about the nature of the event and sent undercover operatives into the venue from 11 pm on Saturday. The gathering was subsequently disrupted around 3 am on Sunday morning, in line with the agency’s Standard Operating Procedures.

Over 100 individuals were taken into custody for screening, including Pretty Mike, who was identified as the club's owner.

NDLEA operatives reported recovering cartons of illicit substances from both the club's store and from attendees. The seized items reportedly included Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, and canisters of laughing gas (nitrous oxide).

Eminent Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has alleged medical negligence in the death of her 21-month-old son, Nkanu Nnamdi, who passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.  Adichie’s media team confirmed to ARISE News on Saturday that the author penned a detailed statement of the incident, which was originally shared privately with family and close friends before becoming public. In the statement, Adichie said her son was taken to Euracare Hospital for an MRI scan and the insertion of a central line. He was sedated for the procedure but allegedly not properly monitored after being administered propofol, resulting in severe complications, including loss of responsiveness, seizures, and cardiac arrest. The account, dormant since Elon Musk’s $44 billion takeover, now displays a "Rule Violation" notice, though the company has not specified which policy was broken. Court grants former AGF Malami, Wife & Son 1.5 Billion Naira Bail

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday granted bail to the former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abdulaziz Malami , his wife, and his son. Each defendant was admitted to bail in the sum of ₦500 million, accompanied by stringent conditions intended to ensure their appearance for trial. The court's decision follows Malami’s period in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), where he has been held since December 8. His detention followed a reported failure to satisfy administrative bail terms previously established by the commission. Arsenal and England ace midfielder Declan Rice has been hit with a six-month driving ban after being caught speeding twice on the same road in just one week. The £105million midfielder was first caught doing 37mph in a 30mph zone on January 3 last year. Barely five days later, the 26-year-old was caught again on the same stretch of the A217, hit for doing 49mph in a 40mph limit.
