WIMBLEDON FINALS: Who is Amanda Anisimova?

American Amanda Anisimova will face off against Polish tennis star Iga Świątek in the Wimbledon women's singles final on Saturday.

No. 13 seed Anisimova secured her place in the Wimbledon final in a nail-biting match, defeating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 on Centre Court. This achievement comes 18 months after Anisimova stepped away from tennis to focus on her mental health after the death of her father and tennis coach. With this victory, Anisimova became the first American to reach the Wimbledon final since Serena Williams in 2019.

Anisimova will face Iga Świątek, who dominated Belinda Bencic with a score of 6-2, 6-0 to reach her first Wimbledon final. Both Anisimova and Świątek will be competing for their first Wimbledon title.
