Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, Joins APC

On Wednesday, reports surfaced that former President Goodluck Jonathan had joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). 

Jonathan contested the presidency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 and lost to President Muhammadu Buhari, who is currently in his second term in office. 






The former president has, however, been rumoured to be interested in contesting the presidency in the 2023 polls. 

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has reportedly joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, the former President picked up the ruling party's membership card at his ward in Otueke, Bayelsa state.  

“A dependable source in Jonathan’s camp” said the former president had registered with the APC at his ward in Otuoke, Bayelsa state.''the report stated 




The source also claimed that Jonathan is expected to submit the presidential nomination form purchased for him by some Almajiri's today Thursday, May 12.  

“Several bigwigs of the party have also been calling Jonathan to pledge their loyalty and support to the former president. At least three top African leaders called the former president on the matter. They all urged him to run. 




One of them specifically told him that it didn’t make sense travelling all over Africa settling disputes only to shy away from leadership responsibility in his home country.Another reminded him of the implication of failing to put the experiences he garnered as a former Nigerian president and as a continental statesman to good use.”the source was quoted as saying The former president is, however, yet to formally announce if he has defected

No. 13 seed Anisimova secured her place in the Wimbledon final in a nail-biting match, defeating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 on Centre Court. This achievement comes 18 months after Anisimova stepped away from tennis to focus on her mental health after the death of her father and tennis coach. Preliminary Reports on London Bound Air India Flight 171 that killed 260 people

Fuel to the engines of Air India Flight 171- which crashed killing 260 people in June - was cut off moments after take-off, a preliminary investigation report has found. According to data from the flight recorder, both of the plane's fuel control switches moved from the run to the cut-off position in the space of a second, shortly after take-off. In recovered cockpit voice recordings, the report said one of the pilots can be heard asking "hey did you cut off?" to which the other pilot replied he "did not do so". It is not clear which pilot said what. The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed less than a minute after taking off on 12 June from Ahmedabad airport in western India, killing 260 people, most of them passengers. One British national miraculously survived the crash.
