Lebron James becomes first active NBA Player to achieve Billionaire Status

LeBron James is officially a billionaire, marking the first time an active NBA player has achieved that milestone.

Notably, Michael Jordan is the only other basketball billionaire on Forbes' list. He didn't achieve that until 2014, more than a decade after he retired.According to Forbes magazine, during his career.

Forbes said that the Los Angeles Lakers star has "maximized his business," generating more than $1.2 billion in pretax earnings. His NBA salary from three different teams during the past 19 years has amounted to $383 million, and James has "raked in upwards of $900 million in income from endorsements and other business ventures," the magazine said.



In addition to lucrative endorsement deals with Nike (NKE), AT&T (T), PepsiCo (PEP) and Walmart (WMT), Forbes said that James structured his deals to include equity in those brands, giving him a "cut of the upside instead of a quick paycheck." The four-time NBA champion also has investments in fitness startup Tonal, ridesharing company Lyft and eatery upstart Blaze Pizza.

Another lucrative investment for James is TV and movie studio SpringHill Entertainment, which Forbes values at around $300 million. The studio helped produce "Space Jam: A New Legacy," a movie he starred in that earned $163 million in box office receipts worldwide.



James has long dreamed of being a billionaire.

"It's my biggest milestone," he told GQ in a 2014 interview. "Obviously I want to maximize my business. And if I happen to get it, if I happen to be a billion-dollar athlete, ho. Hip hip hooray! Oh, my God, I'm gonna be excited."

Chicago drill rapper Devonsha Collier, known as THF Bayzoo and an associate of Lil Durk, was fatally shot this past weekend in Little Village, Chicago, authorities said. Collier, 35, was struck around 3 p.m. Saturday on the 3100 block of South St. Louis Avenue. Two other men, ages 39 and 42, were also injured. Collier was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead early Sunday. Police have ruled the case a homicide. No suspects were in custody as of Monday. Video allegedly showing the attack surfaced on social media shortly after the shooting. Collier was previously acquitted in a 2009 murder case after being arrested in 2014 at rapper Lil Durk’s Orland Park home. He was found not guilty in 2017. Share this story

Lagos Socialite, Pretty Mike Arrested by NDLEA over Drug Themed Party

" The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has detained popular Lagos socialite and nightclub proprietor, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, known as Pretty Mike, following a raid on his Victoria Island establishment where a suspected drug-themed party was taking place. The operation targeted Proxy Nightclub at 7 Akin Adesola Street in the early hours of Sunday, October 26th. According to an NDLEA statement by its Director, Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the agency had received intelligence about the nature of the event and sent undercover operatives into the venue from 11 pm on Saturday. United States Revokes Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka's Visa

Nigerian Nobel laureate Professor Wole Soyinka on Tuesday disclosed that the United States has revoked his visa, effectively barring him from entering the country for the time being. Speaking during a media session at Kongi’s Harvest Gallery in Freedom Park, Lagos, Soyinka said he was shocked by the development, stressing that he was unaware of any action that could have triggered the decision. “I felt it necessary to call this conference so those in the United States expecting me for engagements don't waste their time,” he said. “I have no visa; I am banned, obviously, from the United States.
