TECH ON MONDAY: Instagram will begin testing NFT's this week {Watch}

A group of non-fungible token (or NFT) creators and collectors will soon be able to display their tokens on Instagram. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed in a post today that the company is testing NFTs on the platform, with “similar functionality” coming soon to Facebook.




Instagram head Adam Mosseri said in a video today that a small group of US users will have the ability to display NFTs on their feed, stories, and in messages. NFT details are displayed in a similar way to tagged profiles and products and are named “digital collectibles.” Clicking on the tag will display details like the name of the creator and owner.

Mosseri said the test is small to start so that Instagram can learn from the community. Perhaps in an attempt to tackle distrust of a major social networking platform jumping into NFTs, he brings up a tension between large companies like Instagram and the decentralized ethos of Web3.

American Amanda Anisimova will face off against Polish tennis star Iga Świątek in the Wimbledon women's singles final on Saturday. No. 13 seed Anisimova secured her place in the Wimbledon final in a nail-biting match, defeating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 on Centre Court. This achievement comes 18 months after Anisimova stepped away from tennis to focus on her mental health after the death of her father and tennis coach. With this victory, Anisimova became the first American to reach the Wimbledon final since Serena Williams in 2019. Anisimova will face Iga Świątek, who dominated Belinda Bencic with a score of 6-2, 6-0 to reach her first Wimbledon final. Nigerian Superstar Davido has recently become the first in Africa to purchase the all new $1m Lamborghini Revuelto. Preliminary Reports on London Bound Air India Flight 171 that killed 260 people

Fuel to the engines of Air India Flight 171- which crashed killing 260 people in June - was cut off moments after take-off, a preliminary investigation report has found. According to data from the flight recorder, both of the plane's fuel control switches moved from the run to the cut-off position in the space of a second, shortly after take-off. In recovered cockpit voice recordings, the report said one of the pilots can be heard asking "hey did you cut off?" to which the other pilot replied he "did not do so". It is not clear which pilot said what. The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed less than a minute after taking off on 12 June from Ahmedabad airport in western India, killing 260 people, most of them passengers. One British national miraculously survived the crash.
