Lamine Yamal Inherits the iconic No 10 shirt worn by Lionel Messi

Barcelona have officially handed Lamine Yamal the club's legendary No. 10 jersey, famously worn by Lionel Messi for over a decade.


The 18-year-old Spanish winger received the shirt at a ceremony with his family on Wednesday, marking a symbolic moment in his young career. 

Yamal, who recently extended his contract until 2031, now carries the weight of a number previously worn by football legends including Ronaldinho, Maradona, and Rivaldo.

"When I was a child, my dream was to debut for Barça, to grow up and play with the No. 10," Yamal said. "Messi made his way, and I'm going to make mine."

Despite facing an investigation over his birthday party celebrations, Yamal's focus remains firmly on football, having already made over 100 appearances for the Catalan giants.

American Amanda Anisimova will face off against Polish tennis star Iga Świątek in the Wimbledon women's singles final on Saturday. No. 13 seed Anisimova secured her place in the Wimbledon final in a nail-biting match, defeating world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 on Centre Court. This achievement comes 18 months after Anisimova stepped away from tennis to focus on her mental health after the death of her father and tennis coach. With this victory, Anisimova became the first American to reach the Wimbledon final since Serena Williams in 2019. Anisimova will face Iga Świątek, who dominated Belinda Bencic with a score of 6-2, 6-0 to reach her first Wimbledon final. Preliminary Reports on London Bound Air India Flight 171 that killed 260 people

Fuel to the engines of Air India Flight 171- which crashed killing 260 people in June - was cut off moments after take-off, a preliminary investigation report has found. According to data from the flight recorder, both of the plane's fuel control switches moved from the run to the cut-off position in the space of a second, shortly after take-off. In recovered cockpit voice recordings, the report said one of the pilots can be heard asking "hey did you cut off?" to which the other pilot replied he "did not do so". It is not clear which pilot said what. The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed less than a minute after taking off on 12 June from Ahmedabad airport in western India, killing 260 people, most of them passengers. One British national miraculously survived the crash.
